School Strengths

According to the data, this high school is strong in terms of its attendance rate, overall English achievement pass rate, and school safety. The data shows that students of all demographic backgrounds are doing a pretty good job of showing up to school. In addition, the English achievement pass rate coulds be due to the fact that most of the students in the school are not English language learners and do not struggle so much with any language barriers and English communication skills as in schools with high English language learning populations. Finally, the data shows that there have been several decreases in student offenses.

Concerns

The data indicates that there are concerns related to academic achievement, particularly Mathematics, Science, Dropout Rate, and Graduation Rate. Overall, there are drops in Mathematics and Science pass rates for students, especially the economically disadvantaged, students with disabilities, and the limited English proficient. This could be due to the fact that many of the students with disabilities and who are limited in their English proficiency might also be economically disadvatanged. In addition, the dropout rate is especially high for students with disabilities, as well as limited English proficiency students, which could be correlated with how these students become perform academically and become discouraged with their ability to succeed in school. Moreover, the graduation rate is very low for students with disabilities.

Achievement Gaps

As mentioned above, there are achievement gaps for students who are economically disadvantaged, students with disabilities, and limited English proficient students, especially in the areas of Mathematics and Science.

Changes in Attendance Rates

The only changes in attendance that are of concern is that there has been a slight increase over the years in the attendance of students with disabilities. This could be attributed to students with disabilities also struggling more and becoming discouraged about their academic abilities.

Safety Data

The data indicates that there are several drops in student offenses. This could be attributed to more and stricter administrative policies promoting awareness and increasing school safety.

Additional Data Needed

More data, such as numbers and percentages of teens who drop out due to factors such as academics, pregnancy, and poverty, as well as presence and availability of student community support services, are needed to determine future counseling interventions.
